To start off, I'll start from skills to be learn in merchanthood. Must skills to add in the order below:
Increase weight 5 (To enable pushcart ie carry more pots)
Pushcart 10 (To resume normal walking speed)
Discount 10 (24% discount on pot ie savings savings on heals )
Mamomite 10 (For MVP or mobs if you are rich enough )
After that it's up to you which skills to add. Personally i go for
Identify 1 (No need for magnifier)
Increase weight 10 (To carry more pots = less trip to restock heals)
8 more skill points (Either OC, vending, just choose what you prefer)
Note : Personally I'll go for job 50 to perform job change as at lvl 50, you get 30 steel instead of 5 steel for changing at 40-49. If you want to go for hybrid ie battle forger, 50 is a must as you wont have any spare skill points left when you are a blacksmith.
Apart of that, it is a must that you learn this skills
Crazy uproar (Requirement Job 15 & above) -Increase Str by 4 by 5mins
For hybrids, it's a combo of a) & b) so it's more flexible and individual can customise the stats to their needs.
Recommended Equipments / Armor / Accessory
Merchanthood
Fire element dagger /1 Hand Sword. Always get the strongest attk weapon if you can afford for elementals. Only use mace/Axe class if you can get Weapon Perfection and Adneraline Rush from blacksmith.
Damage Reduction bucklers. Get a +4 Brutal Buckler (Orc Warrior Card = Reduce 30% dmg fr brutes mobs) as soon as you can afford as 90% of the time, you be levelling off brutes like smokie, caramel, savage, hode,coco,bigfoot etc. If you cant afford a Brutal buckler, get at least a +4 Athena Buckler (Ambernite = for additional +2 DEF).
Hard Silk Robe/Padded Armor/Chainmail (Pupa Card = +700Hp). During merchanthood, usually you have very little hp, so a +700hp boost is definitely very helpful for leveling. If you can try overupgrade before compounding in the card since Pupa card is quite costly.
Cheap accesoriess such as ring (+2 Str), matyr leash (+2 agi), brooch (+2 vit), glove (+2 dex). If you can afford, get Mantis clip x2 (+3 Str) or Clip of Counter x2 (+1 Str, increase% of crit)
Headgear like Sakkat if you need +1 agi, cap def 4, wise goggles (Def 5,+80Sp, so you can spam more cart revolution)
If you can afford, I recommend Green Boot/shoes (+1 agi, boost 8% MaxHP)
Blacksmith
Once you get Weapon Perfection, invest in elemental Two-Handed Axe instead of Elemental Swordmace. Reasons being Two-Handed Axe not only has high attack strength and speed, but also cost half the price of an elemental swordmace.
Extra (Picky card,+1 Str, +5 Att and +10 Hit) Padded Armor/Chainmail instead of Hard. When you are a blacksmith, you shouldnt have much problem with low HP. So switch to extra armor for attack and Hit boost.
Accessories you can still use the same as merchanthood or upgrade to mantis clip if you can.
Skills for Blacksmith
As a battlesmith, max all your battle skills first. I would suggest the below sequence
Hammerfall 2 (pre-requisite for AR)
Adrenaline Rush 3 (increase attk speed and pre-requiste for PT)
Power Thrust 5 (increase weapon damage by 25% at lvl 5)
Hilt Binding 1 (pre-requiste for WR & WP)
Weapon Research 2
Weapon Perfection 3 (Nullify size penalty esp on axe class)
Maximise Power 2 (Max weapon dmg)
Adrenaline Rush 5
Weapon Research 10
Weapon Perfection 5
Maximise Power 5
Skin Tempering 5 (must have later patch will give 5% dmg reduction for normal attk)
Iron Tempering 1 (pre-requisite for Ore Discovery)
Steel Tempering 1 (pre-requisite for Ore Discovery)
Ore Discovery 1(helps quite a bit, gotten a Oricedon from steel chon chon before )
Repair Weapon 1(Prepare for future patch where mob can break weapons)
So you will have 4 points left, either you can add to merchant skills or you can max iron or steel tempering. Note: I don't encourage you to learn any forging skills. I have tried it with my battlesmith, at base 80 and job 50, with dex & luck equip dex=60+ luck=20+ and emperium anvil, i broke 7 elemental chains (lvl 2 weapon) in a row But i would say for lvl 1 weapon my success rate is quite high 3/3 so far I wont be trying to forge lvl 2 or higher weapons soon till i max my dex at 48+12 (base w/o equip).

Head Gear - Pirate Bandana (Str +1), Deviruchi Hat (Str +1), Adurate Cap (Deviruchi Card, Str +1), Majestic Goat (Str +1), Solar God Helm (Str+3,Int+2), Adurate Sunglasses, Hot Blooded Bandana (Str+2), Evil/angel Ears (Str +1, min lvl 70 to equip), Orc Hero Helm (Str +2)
Armor - Padded/Chain/Lord Clothes Of Recovery (Savage Card Vit+3)
Accesories - Necklace of Spore (Spore Card = Vit +3), Necklace (Vit +2), Clip (Vit+2)
Footgear - Fledged Boots (Verit Card, HP + 15%), Green Boots (Matyr Card = Agi+1, HP +12%)
Last but not least, I'll share my expected final stats for my hybrid battlesmith (note : final stats include job & equip bonuses)

I'm not a big fan of agi build so 60 is enough for me. I will try another build with my 2rd smith str/vit build. I like my current build with some luck as i can do crits quite frequently when equip with two clips of counter. Luck in multiple of 3 gives 1 crit. Int in multiple of 6 for sp regeneration bonus.
