Hunt some good ol' porings and fabres until about level 7. At about that time you can try for rockers, or even theif bugs. Bring your str to a base of 10 (you should have started with 9) Dex you don't have to worry much about YET. Pump your main defensive stat, be it AGI or VIT. DO NOT GO HYBRID YET.
Tanked - If you are being tanked for quite some time, try to bring your dex up first and go rockers until swordie.
--------Levels 13 - 25---------------
Vit - Try heading to culvert 1/2 if you take low enough damage from theif bugs and tarou. Depending on your armors and weapons, Bib 1, Coal mines 1, Payon 1/2 and Peco Peco/Boa's are all decent choices
Agi - This highly depends upon your current flee. If you have a Mocking, try Bib 1, Payon 1, Culvert1/2/3, Coal mines 1. If not, stick with Culvert 1/2 until you have about 40 agi.
Tanked - Elder willows from 16 - 26 will be good here. Once your flee is high enough you can start soloing.
Until about 18-20, pump your defensive stat of choice. Then, bring your str to a total of 20, and add some to dex. Again, DO NOT GO HYBRID YET. Start to save up for a Wind Katana or Wind 1hs (Blade, RPS, whatever you can afford)
--------Levels 26 - 40---------------
Vit - Stick to a place where to take 1-5 damage a hit. Some suggestions are bib 1 (or 2, if your armor allows) Payon 2, Elder Willows, Yoyo's (armor permitting) Culvert 4 (armor permitting) Geffen 1 (armor permitting)
Agi - Stick to payon 2 or Elder willows here. It might not be super fast exp, but you should be able to dogde well. If you have a mocking, You might want to try Geffen 1 out around level 35. You might want to recruit an aco for this
Tank - If you still have an available tank, you can go to hodes and anacondaq's. At early 30's they will rance from 7% a kill down to 4% a kill. It is not recommended to be tanked here unless you have a good fire weapon. If you have basic gear, it is faster to just solo at elder willows and geffen 1.
Pump your defensive stat more, and try to get str to a total of 30 around level 40. Again, NO HYBRID AGI/ VIT YET.
--------Levels 41 - Knight---------------
Vit - At this point, your def should be good enough to Handle either Ant Hell or Geffen 1. If not, go for bib 2 with a wind weapon. Geffen 1, in my opinion, is the fastest way to Knight for a vit char at this point, assuming you don't have super equipment. Orc Warriors or Ant hell works well, Yoyos do as well. Any place mobby that you can take 1-10 damage a hit in will work.
Agi - At this point, hopefully you have a wind weapon. If so, bib 2/3 will carry you all the way to knight rather quickly. If not, try Geffen 1, Yoyos, Ant Hell, Anacondaqs, Orc Warriors.
Tank - May not be fast but at higher 40's you can be tanked at sohees for 1% or so a kill. It is better to solo/party but if you are searching for that s. muffler, this is the place to go.
Keep pumping the good old defensive stat. Add some more to dex, and again more to str. 40 or 50 total str when you hit Knight is decent. Still NO HYBRID.
--------Levels 53 - 60---------------
Vit - Mids 2 with a fire weapon works ok if you have enough def. Sphinx 2/3, Hodes/Anacondaqs, Bib 2/3, Sohees, Yoyos, Orc Warriors, wherever you're comfortable with your def.
Agi - Sohees, Anacondaqs/Hodes, Bib 2, Sandmen (Flee Permitting) Sphinx 2 (3 tends to be a bit mobby for agi chars at this point). At around 55 you can try geffen 3 with a partner bringing a good amount of oranges depending on how often you are hit.
Yet more defensive stat. Try to have it near 70 at this point, with 40-50 str. You won't need too much dex yet, as most of what you're fighting doesnt have high flee. And yes, I'd still suggest you hold off on hybrid. Try to get an elemental bastard sword, or even claymore if you're two handed. Fire or Wind is probably the way to go at this point. If you're vit, save up for a bloody weapon if possible, or get an elemental RPS, Fire or Wind.
--------Levels 61 - 70---------------
Vit - Depending on what weapons you have avalable at this point it varies. Kobolds (Bloody Weapon)Sandmen (Fire) , Sphinx 3 (Ice, Bloody weapon) , Geffen 2 (Ice) , Zenorcs, Sohees (Wind) , Bib 4 (Wind).
Agi - Pretty much the same as vit here.
Add more to def stat again. You shouldnt have less than 50 str total at this point. Your dex should be no less than 25. And you should still be pure Agi or pure Vit. Don't worry, I'll let you hybrid soon.
--------Levels 71 - 80---------------
Vit - Sphinx 3 will work best most likely. Bib 4 is probably too slow at this point, so you can sell your wind weapon if you have one. You probably won't need it again for a good while. Geffen 3 is another possibility. You can also train for a ME Priest/ess, just keep in mind, you CAN be banned for a few days for this.
Agi - Sphinx 3 again. Try to get your hands on an Ice Claymore ASAP. If you're around level 78 with a mocking muffler/mant and an Ice claymore, head on down to mids Basement and spend some time with Minos
Get your total STR to 60 or 70. Def stat should be 80 or a little higher. You can add some luck if you're crit, and some more dex wouldnt hurt either. I'd suggest holding off on hybrid still, but if you MUST, you can raise your hybrid stat to 10 or 15.
--------Levels 81 - 90---------------
Vit - You'll probably hate it by now, But sphinx 3 isnt all too bad. You can go to prison or alarms if you have the right gear, Geffen 3 is still okay.
Agi - Prison or Minos. Either will work nicely. Sphinx 3 is ok too, but not as fast IMO.
Get str to 70-80 total now. Main def stat should be no more than 91 if AGI. You CAN go to 99 vit, however, 80-90works ok. It's okay to start going hybrid now.
--------Levels 91 - 99--------------- (May start at 81)Turtle Island Dungeon... yes, with the medium sized party you can level here! its best to go wearing Brutal shield or Cranial shield.. as the turtles are brute and assulters are demi-human.. Both agi/vit knights can level be a tank for there party~ but its essential you wear those damage reduction shields.. i leave cranial on the most as its the assulters that will kill you first ;D
Vit - Prison, Minos, GH maps. High orcs, Anolians, Tanking castle with a party works nice too ;o
Agi - Prison or Minos will take you right to 99, as will High Orcs, however, Orc Archers are a bitch and a half to dodge. Castle or Chiverly works, but I reccomend bringing a priest.
Do whatever you want now. Your str should be no lower than 90 total at 99. You should have at least 50-60 total dex (If not more). The rest is up to you
-------Notes----------
When I say "Total" on a stat I mean your base number plus your job/equipment bonus. 77+13 is a Total of 90.
ALWAYS value defensive points over AGI points. Speedy Chain mail = no. Chain mail of heman = yes.
All the places I've listed are suggestions. This is not the bible of leveling. It's not a sin to level where you want when you want. Stick to where you're comfortable and getting good exp. Get a party and go somewhere I listed ahead of your level.
------------------How To Make Money------------------------
Some people ask the question "How did you afford all your gear? I can barely make 100k a day."
Well, first off, expect to be poor until you have a level 80+ char. Sure, some people get lucky and get loads of rares early on, but don't be discouraged if you're level 75 and still trying your hardest to get your gear to +5 all. Here are some money making tips to help everyone out on their way up.
---Make a Merchant---
Trust me on this one. It will be well worth the few hours of your time. Get level 10 OC (Overcharge) and level 10 DC (Discount). Discount all your Awakenings/reds/fwings yourself, and store them in kafra. This might not seem like it's saving you much, but if you start early on, you'll have saved millions of zeny before you're level 90.
---Pick up all your loot---
Don't leave loot on the ground. Save it all up, and store it in kafra. After a few days, go on your merchant and OC it all. You'll be surprised at how much you have.
---Choose the map you level on Wisely---
Sure, you might have found a new monster that gives you amazing exp. But then again, what's its best drop? If you're leveling your swordie in geffen 1, don't expect to make much money. However, if you level in bib 2, you might be able to pawn off some hydra or thara frog cards for a nice amount of dough. Also, don't pick monsters that make you sit a lot/use a lot of reds. It's a better idea to take it slowly at first, and move onto harder things later.
---Get a Party---
Little too low level to go to sphinx alone? Get a priest, or a whole party. Make sure they are people you can trust to split the drops with you. Later on, go do some MVPing. I don't suggest bapho or stormy knight if you're reading a thread on how to make money though Try Eddga, Golden theif bug, or Moonlight. Even Ghostring and Angeling can be nice money if you team up with some friends and hunt them all day.
---Watch the Market---
Notice Reydric cards have been rising up in price slowly? Seeing that OBBs seem to be on the move up? Buy them while they are still cheap. You may not like this idea at first because you'll have spent all your money without much to show for it, but if you're right, you could wind up making a few million for free just by saving some items for a few weeks. Even if you're wrong, at the very least you'll resell for the price you bought for or slightly cheaper. It's a gamble, but if you pay attention to market trends, you could become rich without ever really getting any rare drops.
i got this from some other websites and i think it is quite useful for melee characters.
