Where to lvl Thread (Merchant/Bksmith)


Dear Members,



Here's some tips on leveling. However before i start, i must admit that i'm a strong advocater of elemental weapons, I only use elemental weapons to level and some carded weapons, i seldom used (when i started i used, now i dont use at all ) weapons that are bought directly from NPC.



Leveling Criteria





  1. Choice of Weapons

  2. % xp per 30 mins (calculated by use of concentration/awake/berserk pots)

  3. Nos of heals used


Choice of weapons



A) Size penalty - Each weapons have size penalty





  1. Daggers              Size Bonus/Penalty S=100 M=75 L=50

  2. One Hand Sword   Size Bonus/Penalty S=75 M=100 L=75

  3. Mace                  Size Bonus/Penalty S=75 M=100 L=100

  4. Axe                    Size Bonus/Penalty S=50 M=75 L=100


Tips : In Merchanthood, we will mostly level off with small to medium mobs, so axe is out of our selection list as we are being penalised on the size (ie axe only do 50% dmg on small size mob and 75% on Medium size Mob)



B) Attack Speed



Attack speed affects the nos of times you can hit the mob (ie how fast you can kill a mob)




  1. Daggers<One Hand Sword<Axe<Mace (MerchantHood)

  2. Axe<Mace (Bksmith due to Adrenaline Rush Bonus)

C) Elemental weapons



The next step, get yourself an elemental weapon. Elemental weapons can only be forged by blacksmith. All elemental weapons has no slot like te one you buy from NPC. So go for the strongest weapons you can afford (eg Daggers = Damascus). In the long run, elemental weapons are cheaper than those carded ones. Main reason being carded ones are very specific, while elemental weapon's damage is only dependent on the element attribute class of each mob. Also a normal elemental weapon will do. You do not need the vvs version of it. vvs only deals 10 damage when you miss instead of 0 in normal elemental weapon. But the price for vvs is normal 1.5 - 2x of a non vvs elemental weapon.



For eg : Fire elemental weapons are effective on Earth element mob. The damage dealt to them are Earth 1 125%, Earth 2 150%, Earth 3 & 4 200%



Tip : For merchanthood, get a fire elemental weapon asap (1 Handed Sword preferred). It is most effective. For blacksmith ice elemental is more effective (get a Ice Swordmace and Ice Two Handed Axe).



 



 % xp per 30 mins & Nos of Heals          



For the ease of calculating which mobs gives you the best xp. I always use the duration of concentration/awakening/berserk as an indication. I never go leveling without using this pot. The reason being it will boost attack speed = less pots used = save money in long run.



However, the % xp earned per 30mins is closely realted to the nos. of heals you are willing to use. For eg, if you can lvl off at hodes and gain 10% per 30mins by burning 200 milk vs 20% at sandman per 30mins by burning 1000 milk. So again, it whether you can afford the cost of levelling at a high xp place. Also the drops also determine whether it is viable to train there.



One important thing to note that, for merchant / blackksmith class, the only way to level is by burning heals. If you prefer not to burn heals, you should not be playing this class. Now here's a tip on heals. For merchanthood, the cheapest form of heals is fruit. The best fruit healing item is pumpkim. Pumpkim are sold at Prontera only. The most cost-effective item is milk. 2 milk heals more than 1 red and cost less and weight less too. I only use milk as my main burns. But i do carry around 15 yellow or white pots in case of emergency (lag & gets too mobby)



Please post your equip ie weapons/buckler etc,stats (including flee and hit) and i'll try to advice a suitable place to level.

 In Addition, the use of damage reduction buckler will also influence the nos of heals burn. For instance :



  1. Brutal Buckler (Orc Warrior Card) - 30% Damage Reducton from Brutes eg: Anancondaq,Caramel, Grand Peco, Hodes,Minorous,Seal,Sea-Otter,Smokie etc

  2. Cranial Buckler (Thara Frog Card) - 30% Damage Reducton from Demihuman eg: Goblins,High Orc,Kobolds,Mobster,Orc Archer,Orc Lady,Orc Warrior,Pasana etc

  3. Gargantuan Buckler (Bigfoot Card) - 30% Damage Reducton from Insects eg: Horn,Mantis,Stainer,Thief Bug etc 

  4. Dragoon Buckler (Sky Petite Card) - 30% Damage Reducton from Dragons eg : Sky-Petite, Earth Petite,Deleter etc 

  5. Hell Buckler (Khalizberg Card)- 30% Damage Reducton from Demons eg :Deviruchi, Raydric Archer etc

  6. ??? Buckler (Rafflesia Card) - 30% Damage Reducton from Fishes eg: Cornotus,Marc,Marse,Obeaune,Phen,Strouf etc   

Tip : Always use elemantal Swordmace with Bucklers if the mob is weak to it, otherwise use Carded 3s chain.

Ok I'll try to give a shot on this using David's format Note: For Merchant/Blacksmith levelling, it is nearly impossible to level without burning heals unless you get a heal slave or tank. Click on the following link for the world map. Note: Amatsu patch mob placements not updated in this map.

--------Levels 13 - 25---------------


Without Elemental Weapons - Rocker, Boa,Thief Bug are decent choice.


With Elemental Weapons  - Peco peco (Ice weapon)


Tanked - Creamy, Coco, Ambernite, Poporing



Until about 18-20, pump your defensive stat of choice (Agi/Vit). Then, bring your str to a total of 20, and add some to dex. Start to save up for a Fire and Brutal Buckler (Blade, RPS, Main Gauche, Stilleto or whatever you can afford). Try limit to 1H Sword & dagger. Use Axe only if you have fellow blacksmith who can give you Adrenaline Rush, Power Thrust and Weapon Perfection boost. 

--------Levels 26 - 40---------------

Without Elemental Weapons - Peco peco 

With Fire Element Weapon & Brutal Buckler - Coco, Smokie, Yoyo (Gef fld 02 old Goblin Map). At around 35, you can solo Hodes or Savage with the right equip (Hard Padded Armor or Silk Robe equip for 700hp boost, Fire Chain or Swordmace if you can afford)

Tank - Hodes (Moc_fld11,15,16,17 and Cmd_fld09, anacondaq's, Savage (Prt_fld 10). At early 30's they will rance from 7% a kill down to 4% a kill. It is not recommended to be tanked here unless you have a good fire weapon (at least lvl 2 like stillo/ RPS).

Pump your defensive stat more, and try to get str to a total of 30 around level 40. Dex to around 25-30.



--------Levels 41 - Blacksmith ---------------

At this point, your def should be good enough and have at least a fire RPS/Stillo although a fire Haedonggum or Damascus would be better  


With Fire Elemental weapon - Continue with hodes or savage. If you can afford to burn heals and get your hand on an Athena Buckler, head on to power levelling at sandman. Dont forget you all so important cart revolution if you get mobbed by sandman.


Alternatively, grab a triple beholder RPS/chain and Athena Buckler and head on to Toy Factory Lvl 2 and do power levelling with Cruiser & Myst Case. If you are lucky, you can get some OBB from Myst Case to support your levelling. Try not to get mobbed by Cruiser as they are aggressive, ranged attackers and hit hard. 


Keep pumping the good old defensive stat. Add some more to dex, and again more to str. 40 or 60 total str when you hit Blacksmith is decent. 

--------Levels 53 - 60---------------

If you wish to go for job 50 which I always will do, continue with sandman. If you are sick of sandman, grab a double ancient bloody RPS, Poo poo Hat,Hard armor (+700Hp),Mocking (you need the additional 20 flee) and Cranial Buckler and head on to Kobold Map Gef_fld08 (Mace, Hammer, Axe). If you have other double/triple bloody weapons, you can use the double/triple bloody on Kobold (Mace & Hammer) as you will do more damage on them. The Kobold (Axe) you need the double ancient bloody RPS cos you need HIT 146 compare to HIT 82 for the rest of the two Kobold. Try not to hit the golem on the map as they have high def/hp and lower exp and miserable job xp. The Kobolds are decent xp and drop steel, s.buckler and Kobold card.


Yet more defensive stat. Try to have it near 60 at this point, with 50-60 str. Try to get vit around 30 too. Start hunting around for  an ice and fire Two-Hand Axe. 

--------Levels 61 - 70---------------


If going for merchanthood job 50, either you can stick with Kobolds map or you can go to Orc Dungeon lvl 2 (access via Gef_fild10). You can re-use the equip for Kobold (Poo poo Hat, Cranial Buckler, Double ancient bloody RPS/Chain) and also bring along a fire element single handed weapon (eg : RPS,Haedonggum,Damascus,Chain,Swordmace). Use the fire weapon on Orc Skeleton and the occasionally Orc Archer. Use the double ancient Bloody on Zenorc so you wont miss as much. In my opinion, Orc Dungeon is better but it can be very mobby. So bring fly wings if you get mobbed by Draniliar or Orc Skeleton. This place is great for loots as when u kill Zenorc, usualy u get tons of drops since they are looters and are abundant. 



Blacksmith


If you have Earth & Fire Two Handed Axe, head to Petite maps, they are great xp. Earth for purple Petite Mjnor_fild03, Gef_fild06(drops Elunium ) and fire for green petite (Mjnor_fld02 Mjnor_fld10). Oops after Amatsu, these two petites are on separate maps. Petites drops the good old dragon scales needed to make mage hat.

If you have around 30 vit, you can try grabbing your Ice & Fire Two-Handed Axe and head down to pyramid basement two and try Minorous(Ice), Verit & Mummy (Fire or Holy). Verit & Mummy card are the main attractions here. 2s Two Hand Axe and berserk pots are dropped by Minorous too.



--------Levels 71 - 80---------------



Minorous at pyramid basement two are your best bet now. If you can get your hand on an Light Epsilon (holy weapon) , it will be great on Mummy & Verit. Do bring some fly wing just in case it gets mobby. Note: This place house more bots after Amatsu patch so just be aware if they ks you. However this map is only good if you have at least 30 Vit.


Around lvl 78, if you are feeling adventorous and dont mind burning more heals, you can make your way to Sphinx lvl 3 or 4 to try out Pasana. I suggest you to go to lvl 4 cos it less mobby and have more Pasana, Minorous with some Marduk and occasionally Mimic. Lvl 3 is filled with tons Marduk and Matyr, little Pasana and Mimic. You may want to walk a bit from lvl 3 to lvl 4. Flywing may land you in very sticky situations. Bring Ice Two-Hand Axe here to level and if you think you are getting too much dmg, bring an Ice Swordmace with Cranial (Pasana) and Brutal (Minorous) Buckler.


Another alternative is bring your ice Two-Handed Axe and go Juno to level with Grand Peco. Be careful though as they assist (ie if you hit one, if anotehr few are around, they will attack you also). Juno is less crowded but you may need to burn more heals.  



Get your total STR to 70 or 80. Def stat should be 60 or a little higher.

--------Levels 81 - 90---------------

Continue with Minorous if you dont wish to burn too much pots till around lvl 85. Then head on to Pasana at Sphinx lvl 4 or 5. Note : Be careful of Pharoah (New MVP) at lvl 5 as he may decide to drop by


Alternatively, you can grab fire swordmace and brutal buckler and hunt Galapago at cmd_fild02. They give decent xp and drops cyfar (obb quest) and ygg quite often. Bring along a wind swordmace and use Brutal Buckler for those pesky Seal, they give reasonably xp but hit hard. Also bring along a Cranial Buckler (use Fire Swordmace on him) to change when you encounter Mobster on the map. Who knows, if you are lucky, he may give you a s.Ring.  


Get str to 80-90 total now. Main def stat should be no more than 70 if AGI. You may go to 40-50 Vit.

--------Levels 91 - 99---------------
Pasana at Spinx 4-5 is your best bet.


(May start at 81)Turtle Island Dungeon... yes, with the medium sized party you can level here! its best to go wearing Brutal shield or Cranial shield.. as the turtles are brute and assulters are demi-human.. Both agi/vit bksmith can level be a tank for there party~ but its essential you wear those damage reduction shields.. i leave cranial on the most as its the assulters that will kill you first ;D

Do whatever you want now. Your str should be no lower than 90 total at 99. You should have at least 60 total dex. Vit i suggest at least 60. The rest you can pump up either int to a multiple of 6 (SP Regen bonus) or luck in multiple of 3 (Crit Bonus).
